CORPORATE MISSION „Worldwide, the Essilor Group is working with its partners to improve people‘s lives through better vision. Again many opticians have performed free screenings for disadvantaged children together with us during the Special Olympics, in Kinderdörfern and in the ARCHE, a Christian organization for children and teens. The drawn Seh-Pferdchen (“see horse”) on the front page has become a real friend for good vision for many children. SPECIAL OLYMPICS Deutschland HEROES AND HELPERS Since 2002, the Essilor Group has supported the Special Olympics on location by providing free screenings and glass lens donations as part of the accompanying Opening Eyes programme. This year, there was a very special highlight here in Germany: the Special Olympic National Games took place in Kiel from 14 to 17 May. Around 4,600 athletes competed in 19 disciplines. In just 3.5 days, over 700 screenings were carried out. Around 350 athletes also received a free pair of glasses during these “games of the heart”. SMALL WINNERS CHILDREN'S INITIATIVES In the neighborhood of the SOS Children's Village in Berlin‘s Moabit district, numerous families are confronted with diverse social challenges. Health prevention is often too short. „Health makes you happy!“ was the motto for the „Healthy Day“, for which the SOS -Kinderdorf opened its doors at the begin- ning of May. Around 450 guests used the variety of offers from a health check to a caries tunnel. Particularly in demand was the free vision test of the Essilor group for children. The environmental organization Global 2000 had invited war-traumatized social orphans from a orphanage for vision-impaired children in the conflict area in Eastern Ukraine to a convalescence holiday in Salzburg/Austria. After a medical exam, the dedicated mission team and Mirabell Optik performed vision tests and fitted each child with matching eyewear. In the region where the children are from, there is still considerable environmental pollution and radiation exposure – even though the Chernobyl disaster took place decades ago – as well as inadequate medical care. The children‘s project „ARCHE“ is involved in more than 20 locations nationwide, especially for children from socially disad- vantaged backgrounds. The basic measures include leisure activities, Training assistance, free meals, holiday camps and support and advice for parents. As part of the summer party of ARCHE Nordweststadt in Frankfurt/Main, the Essilor group performed free screenings. Employees of Essilor, Rupp + Hubrach and NIKA Optics supported the activities on site. In the middle of October Satisloh together with Rupp + Hubrach, Essilor and NIKA Optics invited children of the inclusive school Peter- Härtling to the Viseum Wetzlar. All the 54 primary-school pupils, together with persons in charge, teachers and school attendants experienced a packed morning with numerous stations and games around the topic of optics and vision. The most important item in the program was a vision test. Often poor eyesights in children remain undetected for a long time and can severely impair the development of a child. 7

WORLD SIGHT DAY Especially for children, it can be dangerous in traffic, if they do not properly assess obstacles, speeds or distances due to poor eyesight. On the occasion of this year‘s World Sight Day on 11 October, the Essilor Group therefore has nationwide with opticians set a strong signal for better vision and more safety on the roads: employees distributed safety vests and vouchers for children‘s vision tests and opticians received numerous materials free of charge for their own activities. OUTLOOK 2019 IT GOES ON. JOIN IN. We will continue and expand our vision test activities for socially disadvantaged children. With numerous activities we will make our partnership with the International Automobile Federation FIA experiencable. Once again we will use the World Sight Day as an opportunity to set a clear signal for better vision throughout Germany. HELP MAKES FREU(N)DE!
